Triathlon Tips

Here are some tips to help you to do your best at the Centrals Triathlon.


  • eat well the night before your race
  • go to bed early and get a good nights sleep
  • drink an extra glass of water in the morning
  • don't eat too much breakfast - racing on a full stomach is uncomfortable
  • your bike should be working well with tires pumped up hard
  • take a choice of tops with you to the event - you might want a thermal top to put on after the swim.  Pegasus is often windy.


  • pre select a good gear to leave your bike in ready at the transition
  • lay out your equipment carefully - towel - shoes - top - helmet - ready to go
  • put some talc into your shoes to help your feet slide into them more easily


  • wear a swimming cap or even two to help keep your head warm in the lake
  • ask the starter if you can get wet before you start - just to be ready for the water temperature
  • as you race listen to your body - this race is an endurance race for you - you should be puffing but not too hard - if you are gasping for breath then you need to slow down a bit
