Centrals Netball

Congratulations to the Netball A Team for making it through to the Centrals Netball competition on Thursday 29th August.

The netball competition is very well represented by schools across Canterbury.

Our team came second in the draw of teams they played.

They didn't make the final, but they played exceptionally well as a team and made their coach very proud.

This team also achieved second overall for the weekly Friday sport competition.
Congratulations girls.

Centrals Cross Country

Wednesday 26th Jume
Halswell Quarry

Congratulations to Coll Fraser and Luka Phillips for getting to the Centrals Cross Country.

The race had been postponed from the previous week when the snow storm was forecast.

By all accounts it was still rather muddy for the races and some children had a bit of trouble keeping their feet on the ground!
Results
Luka finished in the top 30 in the year 5 boys race.
Coll finished in the top 50 in the year 6 boys race.

There were probably 100 in each race - legs - arms and mud flying in all directions!

Well done boys.

I think Luka Phillips was our best Ilam performance - he was 6th in the 9 year old boys race.

 Jemima, Lydia, Coll, Ben
Emica, Luka
Scarlett, Dana, William and Caleb

Over 750 children from Canterbury Primary schools took part.
Run 2 km - Bike 6 km - Run 1 km

  A Great Experience!

 Great Achievement

Special thanks to the parents that transported children to the event and looked after them while I was working in the bike transition zone.

Would you believe it?
Once we had packed away all the bike racks and all the children has gone, there where still about ten bikes left behind.
All too small for me!

Well done on your success everyone.

Centrals Triathlon

Wednesday 13th March 2013

11 brave triathletes from Ilam School competed in the Centrals Triathlon along with 850 other competitors from around Canterbury.  Our team was a mixture of 9 and 10 year old boys and girls.

Everyone who took part completed a 75 m swim in the Pegasus lake, a 4 km bike and a 2.5 km run.

Because there were a number of races for each age group individuals were each numbered and timed.  Final results will be published as soon as they are available from Primary Sports.

Here are a few photos to show you what it was like.
